Little Black Notebook #1

It was my first trip to Egypt in two years. My first trip alone. I took a notebook and a sketchbook as companions. The sketches below are from my little black notebook. Each sketch has its memories…

At the airport

The famous tree from my “Inception” experimental series.

A sketch inspired by Mohd Rizq’s sculpture exhibition at the Opera House (photo below)

I sat down to catch my breath, and there she was, standing in her balcony, brushing her hair. Rapunzel much? Moments later, she went in and came back with a camera.

Initially inspired by the sculpture below, at the Modern Egyptian Art Museum at the Opera House. I believe there was something else, but I forgot to photograph it.

At the rock & metal concert at El Sawy Culturewheel. Yes, people did give me weird looks.

The writing in Arabic is a note I took for a show that interviewed me. Never watched the episode.

Inspired by this sculpture in an outdoor museum that’s always closed for some reason. Location: across Beano’s and Lufthansa airlines in Zamalek.

"Dolce far niente", Italian for "sweetness of doing nothing"

3 adorable kittens at El Sawy Culturewheel. It was the first day of Eid Al Ad’ha. The doodle above is from the wall art at the Culturewheel at the time, which says: Life is like a swing. One day up, one day down.

And we’re back to Saudi Arabia.
