A Lover’s Mission

“I want to see more people EMBRACE ART & CULTURE.”

I am a very passionate lover of art, design and culture. I want to see more people ‘EMBRACE ART AND CULTURE’, which is my current slogan. Ernst Levy said: “Man will begin to recover the moment he takes art as seriously as physics, chemistry or money.” I agree with the statement 100%, and believe that art is a very important subject that has been underrated for too long.

I created this blog because I want to express that love openly and give the objects of my affection the time that they deserve.

I want to help people as much as I can, whether it’s by introducing them to artistic expression, or simply listening to them and showing them that someone does care about their ideas.

I will let these quotes explain exactly what good I think art and culture are doing for the world:

“Artists are the antennae of the race.” – Ezra Pound

“Man will begin to recover the moment he takes art as seriously as physics, chemistry or money.” – Ernst Levy

“Culture is the name for what people are interested in, their thoughts, their models, the books they read and the speeches they hear, their table-talk, gossip, controversies, historical sense and scientific training, the values they appreciate, the quality of life they admire. All communities have a culture. It is the climate of their civilization.” – Walter Lippman

“Culture is the widening of the mind and of the spirit.” – Jawaharlal Nehru

“No culture can live if it attempts to be exclusive.” – Mahatma Gandhi

“The acquiring of culture is the development of an avid hunger for knowledge and beauty.” – Jesse Bennet

“Life beats down and crushes the soul and art reminds you that you have one.” – Stella Adler

“To send light into the darkness of men’s hearts – such is the duty of the artist.” – Schumann

“Art is the stored honey of the human soul, gathered on wings of misery and travail.” – Theodore Dreiser

“Artists to my mind are the real architects of change, and not the political legislators who implement change after the fact.” – William S. Burrough

The quotes are informative. I find this quite interesting as it reminds me of History and Theory – as you write your own manifesto. Technically, a mission statement is very short. Including all the quotes establishes outside affirmation of what you think. What are you going to do with this passion for art/design/culture? I, too, believe that visual communication can change the world, enlighten it…

In other words, the mission seems to be missing something…. your call to action is to create and give total attention to the creation… then what?

A very good point Ms. Sandy, I totally agree on this point. I feel like something’s missing, and I really appreciate that you’ve brought it to my attention. “A Love Affair” is a work in progress, and I really hope that people will give more feedback to help put each jigsaw into place.

Thank you Ms. Sandy. I do owe a lot to ‘History & Theory’ and ‘Theoretical Issues’! 🙂
